Minutes
- Jim Franklin called the meeting to order at 10:30.
- Jim Franklin gave the history of the Movie Colony Organization.
He explained that due to their new boundaries we will need to form
the Ruth Hardy Park Neighborhood Organization. He introduced the other
Organizing Committee members Bill Markley and Joy Meredith
- Bill Markley gave a report on the new website www.Ruth Hardy Park.org,
that he is creating.
- Lee Husfeldt, City of Palm Springs Director of Neighborhoods and
Community Relations reported on the Office of Neighborhood Involvement.
There are currently 13 established neighborhoods. Four more are looking
to form. An event called Garden Tours in Neighborhoods is being planned.
Some recent positive work of ONI Neighborhood examples: Sumnor Neighborhood
dealing with airport noise issues that were resolved and Belardo Neighborhood
Tribal issues.
ONI meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from 8:30-10:30 at City
Hall. www.PalmSpringsNeighborhoods.com.
Also available through ONI are Neighborhood Watch and CERT training.
- Lt. Dennis Graham reported on several police and safety issues including
Silent Partner Alert and Code Red Alerts. Their website is wwww.pspd.com.
His number is 323-8119.
They are currently working with other city staff to deal with issues
like a vacation rental policy (Abe Tokier, PSPD), and Tachevah and
Cabelleros traffic issues.
- A discussion regarding the name of the organization (Ruth Hardy
Park vs Movie Colony East), boundaries and ordinances were held.
- The bylaws were discussed and several changes were agreed upon.
The motion to approve bylaws with changes was made by Jim Stuart and
seconded by Tam Fitzgerald.
- The seven advisors approved were Jim Franklin, Bill Markley, Joy
Meredith, Tom Fitzgerald, Paul Zapala, Nancy Stuart, and Sean Warren.
- The first RHPNO meeting will be December 15, 2007 10am at this same
location.
