Advisors present: Barbara Black, Tom Fitzgerald, Jim Franklin, Bill Markley, Nancy Stuart, Paul Zapala.

Advisors absent: Joy Meredith.

Minutes
  1. President Jim Franklin called the meeting to order at 9:00am


  2. Update from the June 12th PSNIC Meeting. (Jim Franklin)
    • A new CERT Training is being offered in five evening classes.
    • The new Waste Disposal Recycle Program begins June 18th.
    • The new Vacation Ordinance Ordinance goes before City Council on July 2nd.
    • There are now 21 Neighborhood Organizations.
    • The Library Strategic Services Planning and Expansion Plans will be the subject of a town hall meeting on June 23rd at 6:30pm to discuss the needs of the residents.
    • The Palm Springs Stadium youth concert program reached a compromise with the Neighborhoods and will have concerts on a trial basis of 3 concerts for the first year with a maximum of 500 participants.
    • Office Depot and Office Max will offer neighborhoods discounts.


  3. Approval of minutes from May 2008 Board Meeting:
    Jim will get the minutes from Joy Meridith and distribute them for approval.


  4. Treasurer's report (Tom Fitzgerald):
    We have a balance of $493.53 after disbursements.


  5. Membership Committee report (Paul Zapala):
    Currently we have 63 paid members.


  6. Neighborhood Party:
    • Some people said they did not receive notices for the party.
    • The party was the same night as the Fireman's Fish Fry at Ruth Hardy Park, and some people who wanted to attend our Social could not.
    • Votes on the Organizational Name Change were 43 NO's and 15 YES's (plus 2 NO's via email).


  7. New Business:
    • December is our Annual Meeting.
    • Will have another party in October. This time we will check for conflicts.
    • Discussion of a Tamarisk Street party that had valet parking in the middle of the street and loud music.


  8. Old Business:
    • Need to follow up on Dog Walking.
    • Follow-up on Historical Map. Will try putting issue on forum. There is a book "Palm Springs Confidential" that has a lot of information.
    • There is a Taxi company parking cabs in the yard. Need to check for business address.
    • Vacant house on San Jacinto near Sunrise is burnt out. There is a sale pending in July.
    • Discussion of Forclosure Ordinance. Palm Springs does not have one, but Cathedral City does. Jim will send out a copy.


  9. Next meeting: Saturday, September 13th, 9:00am @ the Clubhouse (1091 Paseo El Mirador).


  10. The meeting was adjourned at 10:00am.
