Advisors present: Barbara Black, Jim Franklin, Joffra Longoria, Bill Markley, Nancy Stuart, Paul Zapala.

Advisors absent: Joy Meredith.

Minutes
  1. President Jim Franklin called the meeting to order at 9:00am

  2. Update from the October 9th PSNIC Meeting. (Jim Franklin)
    • Voted to have another picnic. Jim Franklin to chair planning committee. Tentatively looking at April 18, 2009.
    • The Great Southern California Shakeout will have it's Duck, Cover & Hold drill on October 13th, 10am.
    • Vector Control will respond to reports of unclean swimming pools: 760-342-8287
    • The Vacation Rentals and Event House Ordinances will go into effect October 17th.
    • The City has a radio station, 1690AM, which will broadcast information during emergencies
    • Blade Signs: need to get cost, a mockup, and examples from The Movie Colony or El Mirador.
    • Get a list of the PSNIC committees for the social.
    • The proposed Whitewater Jail will house approximately 3000 inmates. There was a great deal of concern from PSNIC members of how it will affect Palm Springs. Nancy Stuart feels it will be an economic boon for our community and not a problem.

  3. Approval of minutes from September 2008 Advisors Meeting:
    • Still need to get them and distribute them for approval.

  4. Treasurer's Report:
    • Jim gave update. $464 in bank.
    • Nancy Stuart was unanimously voted in as the new Treasurer (Jim/Bill).

  5. Membership Committee report (Paul Zapala):
    • We have 66 paid members.
    • Post Office Box keys will now be the responsibility of the Membership Committee Chair.

  6. Neighborhood Party (November 15):
    • Barbara (Social Chair) is set with necessary plans.
    • Party will be 6pm-8pm (after the Advisor's Meeting).
    • Jim will confirm location availability.

  7. Annual Meeting, December 6th 10am:
    • Jim will confirm location.
    • Will have election of Advisors.
    • Will have the "Neighborhood Beat" Police there.
    • Will have a presentation on the street blades.
    • Will have information on the City's Code Red phone system.

  8. 1507 San Jancinto is set for demolition on Oct. 22,23,24.

  9. New Business:
    • Bill Markley will check into the "Important Telephone Numbers" card.

  10. Next meeting: Saturday, November 15th, 5:00pm @ the Clubhouse (1091 Paseo El Mirador).

  11. The meeting was adjourned at 9:50am.
